Star Wars Party

In addition to general space theme decorations, this is what we did for our Star Wars party.

We made a pin the staff on Yoda game - draw a large picture of Yoda on Posterboard and make construction paper staffs, play like pin the tail on the donkey

I also had beanbags - made a 'throw the beanbag at the evil emperor' game. He's mostly black robes. Piece of posterboard and a large cardboard box, cut a hole into in on his chest for them to throw things through. I made the beanbags with fabric with stars on it, and let the kids take them home as party favors.

I made the light sabers out of tubes of foam pipe insulation. We wrapped some plastic tape on one end to make a handle. They also took those home.

We had a round cake iced light gray with some dark gray lines to resemble the Death Star. We put some little star wars ships (micro-something toys) on the cake. You could also use a sheet cake and any of the zillions of little plastic Star Wars toys on it.

Make a 'Death Star' Pinanta
I took a baseball pinata and took off the red stripes - at first I thought I'd have to cover them with white crepe paper, but they could be pulled off. I made a circle of tin foil and attached it with glue, and added a half dozen sparkly pipe cleaners - going from the outer edge to the center, like the death rays come out of it. The kids loved the idea of destroying the Death Star.
